چکیده

In many work settings, and especially in healthcare, work is distributed among many cooperating actors, who are constantly moving around and are frequently interrupted. In line with other researchers, we use the term pervasive computing to describe a computing infrastructure that supports work where users access a dynamic range of computing and software devices, where users can shift between devices, and where users move around while preserving their working environment. This paper describes our design of a pervasive activity-driven computing infrastructure. The main tenet in this approach is to preserve a user’s computational working context enabling him to shift between different devices while on the move and enabling him to interrupt and return to work-activities fluently. Furthermore, the infrastructure contains agents that propose new activities based on the user’s current context. This activity-driven computing infrastructure has been designed and developed in close cooperation with a large Danish hospital and is being evaluated in a hospital setting.

Using Logic Programming to Detect Activities in Pervasive Healthcare

In this experience paper we present a case study in using logic programming in a pervasive computing project in the healthcare domain. An expert system is used to detect healthcare activities in a pervasive hospital environment where positions of people and things are tracked. Based on detected activities an activity-driven computing infrastructure provides computational assistance to healthcar...

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

A semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...

Supporting Pervasive Collaboration in Healthcare — An Activity-Driven Computing Infrastructure

Clinical work in modern hospitals is characterized by a high degree of mobility, frequent interruptions, and much ad hoc collaboration between colleagues with different expertise. Electronic patient record systems are typically build upon the classic client-server architectural style that has evolved to support office work that do not have these properties. In this paper, we describe clinical w...

A survey on impact of cloud computing security challenges on NFV infrastructure and risks mitigation solutions

Increased broadband data rate for end users and the cost of resource provisioning to an agreed SLA in telecom service providers, are forcing operators in order to adhere to employment Virtual Network Functions (VNF) in an NFV solution. The newly 5G mobile telecom technology is also based on NFV and Software Define Network (SDN) which inherit opportunities and threats of such constructs. Thus a ...
